Palo Verde Painting, a leading commercial painting contractor in the Valley, is excited to announce its involvement in a key project for the Diocese of Phoenix—the opening of St. Mary’s House at the historic St. Mary’s Basilica in downtown Phoenix. As one of the contractors selected for this important renovation, Palo Verde Painting is proud to have played a role in bringing this meaningful project to life, contributing to the legacy of the Catholic community and supporting future generations of priests and community leaders.
The Diocese of Phoenix officially unveiled St. Mary’s House on October 1, 2024, marking the completion of a significant renovation project that restores and repurposes a historic building adjacent to the basilica. St. Mary’s House will serve as a residence for seminarians attending the Nazareth House Seminary, offering a spiritual environment for men discerning the priesthood. This new facility is a vital addition to the diocese’s mission of fostering vocations and supporting the formation of future priests.

The historic building, once known as the Monroe House, has undergone extensive renovations, preserving its architectural integrity while upgrading its facilities to meet the needs of modern seminarians. Located in downtown Phoenix, St. Mary’s Basilica has long been a spiritual center for the Catholic community, and the new seminary house enhances its role in serving both the faithful and those called to the priesthood.
Bishop John P. Dolan of the Diocese of Phoenix expressed his gratitude to the various contractors involved for their dedication to maintaining the building’s historic charm while ensuring it meets contemporary needs. The project is seen as a crucial step in strengthening the diocese’s infrastructure, as it provides a stable home for seminarians in the heart of the city.

Palo Verde Painting contributed to the aesthetic transformation of the building, ensuring that its timeless architecture shines through with fresh, vibrant finishes that honor both its historical significance and the needs of its current occupants. As a locally-owned company, Palo Verde Painting is honored to contribute to the enhancement of such an iconic and sacred site in Phoenix.
